OBJECTIVE
Building a device that could assist elbow joint movements for people suffering with weak joints mainly because of fractures
METHODOLOGY
The system had a unique design that had an electric motor driven external elbow joint exoskeleton. The externally powered joint could be controlled as per the user's will. The design was unique because of several reasons
• The design was made with special grooves for optical encoder based rotation-angle detection
• The complete design was on 3D printer using ABS plastic
• The rotation was controlled using a flex sensor worn on a finger whose motion was mapped to that of the device
RESULTS
• The device was useful in rehabilitation of elbow joints
• The system performed as per user's will with ease
